More Juice On The Renault Fluence
The Renault Fluence is arguably one of my favourite 'emerging market' cars because it does look like the designers at Renault put some effort into making the car appear more upmarket then the (yawn....) Dacia. The Fluence actually share a common underpinning with the Nissan sylphy which may or may not be good news for Malaysians who are Euro-phobic when it comes to selecting the makes of their vehicle. The Fluence is a C-segment sedan meaning the key rivals would be the popular Toyota Corolla & Honda Civic here.
Fluence will be build in Oyak-Renault plant in Bursa Turkey and it is available in a variety of economical engines to choose from. There are the Diesel power plants to choose from ranging from 85 to 110 hp versions. Petrol lovers can opt between a 16V 1.6 or 2.0 liter engines with output of 110 or 140 hp respectively. Equally impressive are the selections of transmission offered for a supposedly 'budget conscious' car. The cheapest version would be the DP2 four-speed automatic transmission followed by a CVT (Continous Varaiable Transmission) and to my delight a six-speed Dual Clutch transmission.
Yes, if you are wondering about the dimensions of the Fluence it is actually 4620mm in length, 1479mm in height, 1809 mm wide & a wheelbase of 2700mm. Among the safety features included by Renault are the usual 3 letters acronym such as ABS, ESC( Electronic stability Control), break assist and up to 6 airbags in the cabin.
